How to Use FollowGone in 2 Minutes

FollowGone is designed to be fast to set up. The longest part of the process is waiting for Instagram to prepare your data export — once you have it, analyzing your followers takes about two minutes.

Here's the complete walkthrough.

Step 1: Download Your Instagram Data (5-30 minutes)

FollowGone works from your Instagram data export — not from your login. So the first step happens on Instagram's side.

On mobile:

1. Open Instagram and go to your profile
2. Tap the three lines in the top right → Your Activity
3. Tap Download Your Information → Download or Transfer Information
4. Select Some of your information → check Followers and Following (under Connections)
5. Tap Next → Download to Device
6. Set format to JSON → tap Create Files

Instagram will email you when the file is ready. This usually takes a few minutes but can take up to a couple of hours for large accounts.

On desktop:

1. Go to instagram.com → click your profile photo → Settings
2. Navigate to Meta Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information
3. Follow the same steps as above

Step 2: Download and Unzip the File

When Instagram emails you, click the download link and save the ZIP file. Unzip it — you'll see a folder structure inside. You don't need to dig into the files manually; FollowGone handles that.
